"I conceive my creations as a painter, although I do not use paint. I conceive my creations as a poet, although I destroy words to retain only fragments, fragile attempts at communication in today's modern Babel.

I am interested in matter; the poor stuff of common elements, the stuff that acquires a depth from forgetting and neglect. It is the perceptible humanity of these materials that interests me. I then work them like a painter, punctuating them with tears, to develop the graphic equivalent of what 'style' is for a writer.
